Virtel Web Suite pricing:
based on your users, not your mainframe capacity

Virtel Web Suite is licensed as a three-year subscription, billed annually. Your subscription covers the right to use the software, support, maintenance and access to new releases. Pricing depends on your number of users and the modules you choose, never on your mainframe capacity. There is no initial license fee (ILF), and no extra charge for use on a backup mainframe or during disaster recovery (DR) testing.

What your subscription includes

For each licensed module, your annual subscription includes:

  • the right to use the software on your systems;
  • support from our team;
  • maintenance, including fixes;
  • new releases as they become available, at no extra cost.

How pricing works

Your price is made up of three components:

  1. The core module, Virtel Web Access, priced per user.
  2. Add-on modules, priced according to the scope of your project.
  3. One-time services, if your project needs them.

1. Core module: Virtel Web Access

Virtel Web Access replaces your 3270 emulators with browser-based access. It is the foundation of Virtel Web Suite.

The subscription is based on your total number of named users, not concurrent sessions. As a starting point, we typically use your existing TN3270 licensed seats or your RACF users. Volume pricing applies, so the price per user decreases as your number of users grows.

2. Add-on modules

These modules are added to Virtel Web Access as your needs require. Their pricing is based on the scope of your project, not on user count:

Module
What it does
What drives the price
Turns 3270 screens into modern web interfaces, with no coding
Number of screens to modernize
Exposes mainframe applications to web and cloud services through web services and APIs
Number of scenarios or APIs to build
Virtel SSO Gateway
Adds single sign-on (SSO) and multi-factor authentication (MFA)
SSO/MFA architecture selected

3. One-time services, as needed

Some project steps may be billed once, on top of the subscription:

  • setup and go-live assistance;
  • architecture design;
  • training for your teams;
  • screen modernization by our experts.

These services are itemized in your quote, so you know the total cost up front.

What never affects your price

  • Mainframe capacity: the number of CPUs, MSUs or LPARs.
  • Number of Virtel instances: run several for high availability or load balancing at no extra cost.
  • Disaster recovery: use on a backup mainframe or during DR testing is included.
  • Initial license fee: there is none.

Pricing FAQ

How is Virtel Web Suite priced?

Pricing starts with Virtel Web Access, the core module, based on your number of named users with volume pricing. Add-on modules are priced according to the scope of your project. One-time services may also apply, such as setup, architecture design, training or screen modernization.

What does the annual subscription include?

For each licensed module, the subscription covers the right to use the software, support, maintenance and access to new releases as soon as they are available. Only one-time services, such as setup, architecture design, training or screen modernization, are billed separately.

Do you count named or concurrent users?

Named users, meaning everyone authorized to access the service, whether or not they are logged in.

How are add-on modules priced?

Virtel Screen Redesigner is priced by the number of screens to modernize, Virtel Web Integration by the number of scenarios or APIs to build, and Virtel SSO Gateway by the SSO/MFA architecture selected.

Does pricing depend on MSUs or mainframe capacity?

No. Pricing does not depend on the number of CPUs, MSUs, LPARs or Virtel instances.

Are there any upfront costs?

There is no initial license fee. The initial three-year agreement is billed annually. The only possible upfront costs are one-time services your project requires, such as setup or training, and they are itemized in your quote.

Can I start small?

Yes. Pricing can be phased over the three-year term to match your rollout.

Is disaster recovery testing charged?

No. Use on a backup mainframe or during DR testing incurs no additional charge.

Can I try Virtel before buying?

Yes. You can request a free 60-day Virtel Web Access proof-of-concept trial and see 3270 browser access on your own z/OS system.
