Web Access services – Standard implementation
The standard installation of Virtel Web Access is simple and straightforward. It typically takes a trained technician only a couple of hours to setup all required parameters. No
development is required. Most customers install Virtel Web Access themselves using the installation documentation and remote support from SysperTec. Once installed and deployed in
production, Virtel Web Access becomes invisible and is soon forgotten. SysperTec remains available at all times to assist the administrator with future modifications.
Web Access services – Custom implementation
SysperTec assists custom web access implementations such as:
- Terminal control: restrict access to sensitive transactions to a few authorized terminals, associate a printer to a workstation, etc.
- Custom security features: selective encryption, biometrics authentication, etc.
- International web access: automated EBCDIC/DBCS conversion, national language selection, etc.
- Mobile web access: serve virtual PFKs to mobile devices but not to regular workstations, etc.
- Session manager support: integrate web access and session manager functionalities
UI Modernization services – Pilot development
SysperTec converts a few legacy (3270) screens to user friendly web pages in compliance with customer-defined web presentation standards for seamless integration with an
existing website.
Working with mainframe developers, SysperTec:
- Selects and uploads a few 3270 screens to Virtel Screen Redesigner
- Designs the web page navigation and workflow: grouping of 3270 screens into web pages, usage of navigation tabs, etc.
- Converts 3270 data fields to JavaScript widgets: dropdown lists, graphical calendars, check boxes, etc.
- Develops Virtel scenarios and scripts
Working with web developers, SysperTec:
- Defines and implements the web presentation standards: typically a reuse of existing standards and related HTML/JavaScript code (CSS, etc.)
- Develops the web page layout using HTML and JavaScript code
- Generates Virtel presentation templates
Optionally, SysperTec may work with mainframe and web developers to develop new GUI features that use Ajax technology: dynamic dropdown lists, collapsible/expandable web page
sections, autosugest, autocomplete, generation and email of documents in varied formats (PDF, Excel, etc.).
The deliverables of this effort (scenarios and scripts, templates, CSS, etc) can serve as model to transfer Virtel development skills to the customer (See Training
Services).
UI Modernization services – Full development
Some customers need a faster development pace and an earlier GUI availability than their own team can deliver, do not have adequate resources to dedicate to the project, want
to make complex modifications to their application's UI that are beyond what their staff can handle (workflow changes, addition of Ajax-based features, etc), or want complex GUI
features that require custom Virtel product modifications.
For those customers, SysperTec offers:
- Full GUI development services
- Participation to the technically challenging parts of the development
- Custom Virtel product modifications
Those services are provided by expert Virtel application developers that have direct access to the Virtel product development team. They conclude with a formal hand-over and
customer training session. SysperTec remains available at all times to assist the customer with future modifications.
